Palliative Care

Mills-Peninsula’s Palliative Care Program helps patients and their families deal with difficult issues resulting from serious chronic illnesses and preparation for the end of life. The goal is to improve quality of life with better management of pain and other symptoms.

Specially trained nurses consult with patients, families and attending physicians to assess needs and provide support, both in the hospital and later at home.

Weekly care conferences bring together a variety of specialists to discuss cases including inpatient care physicians, oncology nurse specialists, pharmacists, social workers, behavioral health experts, pain specialists, discharge planners, chaplains, complementary care providers and dieticians.
