The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation has awarded Sutter Health a $6.1 million grant to expand and develop model patient safety programs over the next four years at Mills-Peninsula and five Sutter Health affiliates.

The grant is believed to be one of the largest single awards for patient safety ever provided to a health care system in the United States.

Sutter Health is matching the grant award, bringing the total to more than $12 million.
